Unity Studios in Allen Park, MI held groundbreaking ceremonies on Thursday, August 27th, 2009 to launch the film and television production soundstages and facilities coming to Southeast Michigan. The Lifton Institute for the Arts likewise is included in the shovel ceremony.

From the very beginnings of filmmaking to the advent of the automobile commercial, Michigan has been providing its setting to film, television, commercials and has set its sights on the future. Currently, with the passage of the new Michigan Film Incentives an historic change is occuring. Michigan Film shall provide the gateway to this industry.
